It’s normal for plants to shed lower, older leaves. Especially in the winter. Just using its energy for new ones at top. You may want to use half strength fertilizer as AI suggests for next watering. What is the name of your plant?

I have one of these. Mine is about 11 years old. Very slow growing. As someone else said it is normal for it to shed the occasional leaf. Let it continue to turn yellow/brown. When the whole leaf has turned it will pull off easily.
